Boone Jaycees' Park

Overlooks Boone, and offers covered picnic tables for groups or individuals. The park also has playground equipment including swings and a sandbox. Free, open year-round. 

Green Valley Community Park

A multipurpose community park on the banks of the New River. The park offers a picnic shelter, permanent restroom facilities, playground equipment, multipurpose playing fields, hiking trails, and a canoe ramp. 

Howard's Knob Park

604 Howards Knob Rd, Boone, NC 28607

Located on top of the mountain overlooking Boone, it can be a little hard to find as you drive through neighborhoods. The starting point is at Earth Fare Grocery on King St. But the scenic views of Boone and the ASU campus are awesome. Hiking trails and cover shelters for picnics. Closes at sunset.

Julian Price Memorial Park can be found on the Blue Ridge Parkway, just 5 miles from Blowing Rock. Here, you can camp, hike, canoe, picnic, fish, or simply stand and take in the beauty to be found at Price Lake.

Memorial Park

Right on Main Street in the middle of downtown, this park provides playground equipment, a climbing wall and tennis, basketball and volleyball courts—all for free. A covered gazebo and plenty of benches makes this park popular for all ages.

Moses Cone Memorial Park

25 miles of preserved Carriage Trails wind through the estate that once belonged to "Denim King" Moses Cone and his wife, Bertha. Wander the trails, fish at Bass and Trout Lakes, see the historic mansion, and hike up to the top of Flat Top Mountain to see the Cone family cemetery plots and breathtaking views of the area.

Tate-Evans Park

Tucked away on Park Avenue behind Nations Bank, Tate-Evans Park features playground equipment, picnic tables, a picturesque paved walking trail and a mountain stream for wading. Plenty of parking is located on site.

Located at the Watauga County Recreation Complex, the Tot Lot features state-of-art playground equipment and separate play areas for 2 to 5-year-olds and 6 to 11-year-olds. The complex also features baseball/softball fields and an indoor swimming pool.

Valle Crucis Community Park

Valle Crucis Community Park is a 28-acre recreation destination for High Country residents as well as visitors to the area.  The Park offers a variety of active and passive recreation opportunities for visitors of all ages, including a paved walking path, playgrounds, picnic shelters, access to the Watauga River, and ample open space. 

West Jefferson Park

The Bowie-Seagraves Municipal Park, often referred to as “West Jefferson Park”  offers fun activities for all ages. Amenities include tennis courts, baseball field, large playground, basketball court, swings, a jumbo slide, clean restrooms, picnic tables and lots of green space for any activity. A lighted walking trail around the park makes it a great location to walk and jog! Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the park’s welcoming atmosphere and well landscaped beauty. The park is within walking distance to historic downtown West Jefferson.  The Park has two large picnic shelter rentals complete with grills, tables and restrooms that are excellent for a cookout or gathering. Call West Jefferson Town Hall to reserve a shelter for your event.
